A new study has revealed another benefit—students who take at least one service-learning course


Buffalo State to Host Clinical Practice Work Group Meeting

March 20 | 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
for local P-12 and higher education colleagues and partners

This is an opportunity to discuss what clinical experiences should look like in New York State teacher preparation programs and to provide feedback on the work group’s draft recommendations for changing the regulations related to clinical experiences. Feedback will be very helpful for the work group when it develops the final recommendations for the Board of Regents this spring. Link to the draft recommendations, survey, regional meeting schedule, and meeting registration form. Register by March 18.

New PDS Faculty Publication!

Doing PDS: Stories and Strategies from Successful Clinically Rich Practice was recently published as a volume in the Information Age Publishing (IAP) book series, Research in Professional Development Schools. The book, which is a compilation of articles meant to share the skills, knowledge, and examples of evidence-based practice of Buffalo State’s PDS, offers ideas for how teacher education and professional development might be re-conceptualized and re-energized. Doing PDS was edited by Elementary Education and Reading faculty Keli Garas-York, associate professor, Pixita del Prado Hill, professor, Leslie Day, former assistant chair for undergraduate programs, Kim Truesdell, professor emeritus, and associate professor of Creative Studies, Susan Keller-Mathers. Doing PDS can be purchased online.
