The International PDS in Torremaggiore, Italy enables teacher candidates and faculty members from Buffalo State and the University of Foggia to learn from each other educational practices considered exemplary in their respective cultures. Buffalo State teacher candidates and faculty travel to Italy every other January for two and a half weeks.
Torremaggiore (view map) is a small medieval town in the province of Foggia in the Apulia region of southeast Italy. Situated on a hill about 20 miles from the Adriatic Sea, it is noted for its production of wine and olives. The climate is Mediterranean with mild winters (40-50F) and warm summers (75-80F).

Final program costs are determined once participant is enrolled. The majority of the expenses are due to Buffalo State prior to travel. Other expenses are paid separately by each student before and during travel.

Applications are accepted through the School of Education Office of the Dean during open application periods only. Applicants must submit a completed application form with an essay of intent, one academic reference, and a copy of past grades and current course registration. Handwritten applications are acceptable.
