Dr. S.G. Grant, Professor, SUNY Binghamton University, will discuss the New York State Social Studies Resource Toolkit, a curriculum and instructional resource that builds out from the recently released New York State K-12 Social Studies Framework. Developed by the lead authors of the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards and nearly 60 NYS teachers and 20 college and university academics, the Toolkit features an ambitious new approach to constructing social studies curriculum inquiries. In this presentation, Dr. Grant will highlight the conceptual foundations behind the Toolkit and the policy implications of a non-mandated curriculum project in light of the Common Core. Students are welcome to attend.
