Please join us for a presentation and discussion on a proposed project that addresses the needs of high functioning autistic (HFA) adults by building a very unique residential center that combines apartment units for HFA adults, companion apartments for family members, a recreation center, and a resource center that will offer educational and social training and access to post-secondary education. A unique feature of the center will be an on-site indoor fish farm that raises and sells a proprietary breed of the highest quality of freshwater Coho salmon with the profits helping to sustain the project. Visit http://devillecommunity.net for more information on the project.
A preliminary site has been identified in Black Rock. Faculty and staff from the Center for Excellence in Urban and Rural Education and the Exceptional Education Department participated in some preliminary meetings and are committed to working on the project. Opportunities are available for other campus departments and centers to become involved on a number of levels.
Faculty and staff are welcome to attend the discussion at 5:00 p.m. with local community business, governmental, and service community partners who actively support the project.
