A Little Bit of History
Buffalo State did not have an official mascot for its sports teams until 1969. That year, a contest was held to find a mascot and the Bengal tiger was put forward. A perfect match for the college’s official colors of black and orange, the Bengal has been a familiar presence at athletics events and homecoming ever since. Yet, the Bengal has never had an official name. Until now.
