“Because of Buffalo State, I have the knowledge and experience to succeed.”
Patrick Smith entered the Educational Leadership program because he aspired to work with students in new ways. He liked Buffalo State’s established reputation for education programs and the fact that he could attend in-person classes.
A North Tonawanda native, Smith appreciated the network of classmates and professors that helped him during and after the program. He found all of the courses to be useful to his current career, and his favorite part was “working with [his] class and knowledgeable professors.”
He acknowledges that every day brings a new challenge, but by working with his team, he is able to overcome these obstacles. Ultimately, his goal is to reach as many students as possible and help them succeed. He remains involved at Buffalo State and often makes presentations in EDL courses to guide the next generation of teacher candidates.
After completing the Educational Leadership program in 2019, his professors continued to support Smith and helped him find opportunities until he accepted a position as assistant principle of West Seneca West High School. Thanks to Buffalo State, he knew he had all the skills and support he needed to become an administrator.
